PRIDE at Wexler Grant: Promise to RIDE your star to success!
At Wexler Grant we promise to be: responsible, independent, dependable, and engaged.
Promise to be:
How does Wexler Grant embed PRIDE into the school climate?
Behavioral expectations are explicitly taught during the first few weeks of the school year. Signs are posted around the school building, in classrooms and every room informing students of what their expected PRIDE behavior is in that space. Lessons are done with classes several times over the course of the year to remind students of behavior expectations.
How are students positively reinforced for exhibiting PRIDE behavior?
Students will earn tickets that can be used in our school store, “The Pride Zone", and they will earn special activities as well. In the past, we have had dance parties and ice cream socials in the game room. The common goal is to decrease our office referrals and suspensions in order to increase the amount of instruction time each child receives.
When an entire class is seen exhibiting PRIDE, the class earns a PRIDE Pawprint. Pawprints are entered into the monthly Pawprint Raffle! One Pawprint is randomly selected for grades K-1, 2-4, 5-6, and 7-8. When a class is randomly selected, every student is given a reward during lunch. Rewards have included bubbles, healthy snacks, mechanical pencils and friendship bracelets!
There is a PRIDE Assembly on the last Tuesday of every month. At these assemblies, teachers and staff give out awards to students from their classes that have showcased their PRIDE. Following the monthly PRIDE assembly, students in the selected grade for the given month will compete against teachers and staff in a sporting event. Past games have included basketball, kickball, mat ball and dodge ball. We strongly encourage parents and families to share in their children's academic and behavioral accomplishments. Parents and family members are always welcome!
